Hope of Christ's Return

Friday's Reflection

Revelation 22:12 — And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Christ's return is not only about ending sin and bringing judgment—it is also about rewarding faithfulness. Every act of kindness done in His name, every prayer whispered in secret, every sacrifice made for the gospel will be acknowledged and rewarded. The rewards are not earned by human merit or achievement but given as gifts of grace to those who lived faithfully by the Spirit's power. Jesus is coming not with empty hands but with rewards prepared for those who have served Him with love and perseverance. This promise assures us that nothing we do for Christ—no matter how small or unnoticed—is ever wasted or forgotten.
Amy Carmichael spent 55 years in India rescuing children from temple prostitution, often working in obscurity with limited resources and constant opposition. She never returned to her homeland and died without seeing the full fruit of her labor. Yet today, the Dohnavur Fellowship she founded continues to rescue and care for vulnerable children, and thousands have come to Christ through her legacy. When Jesus returns with His reward, Amy will see the eternal impact of every prayer, every rescued child, every sleepless night spent in service. This verse assures us that God keeps perfect records—He is coming with rewards for faithfulness, and nothing done for Him will be overlooked or forgotten.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that nothing done for You is in vain. Strengthen us to serve faithfully, knowing that You see every act of love, no matter how hidden or small. May we live each day for Your glory, not seeking earthly recognition but awaiting the joy of hearing, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Come quickly, Lord Jesus, and bring Your reward. Amen.
