Tuesday's Reflection
Matthew 28:19–20 — Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
These were among the last words Jesus spoke on earth, and He gave them not to trained clergy but to a group of ordinary followers — fishermen, a former tax collector, people with calluses on their hands. The Great Commission was never meant to be handed off to professionals. It belongs to everyone who follows Him.
Notice that "go" doesn't always mean crossing an ocean. For most of us it means crossing a room, a street, or a kitchen table. The neighbor whose marriage is falling apart, the coworker who goes quiet when things get hard — these are not interruptions to the mission. They are the mission. God places each of us among specific people, at a specific moment in their lives, on purpose.
And Jesus attached a promise that's easy to rush past: "I am with you alway." Not "when you feel ready." Not "when you have the right words." Always. The person who opens their mouth to speak about Jesus is never doing it alone. You are not the message — you are only the messenger, and the One who sent you goes with you.
Prayer: Lord, give us eyes to see the people You have placed around us, and the courage to speak. Thank You that wherever we go, You go with us. Amen.
