Thursday's Reflection

Acts 1:8 — But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Before Pentecost, the disciples were hiding behind locked doors, afraid of the authorities and unsure of everything. After the Holy Spirit came, the same frightened people walked into public squares and spoke about Jesus in front of crowds and rulers. The difference wasn't education, eloquence, or natural courage. It was the presence of God's Spirit working in them.
That same power is available now. Not always in dramatic signs, though God still works those — more often in quieter ways. The power to love a difficult person with genuine patience. The power to know what to say when the moment matters. The power to stay calm and hopeful when life is hard, in a way that makes people wonder where it comes from.
Notice the order Jesus gave: Jerusalem first, then Judea, then Samaria, then the ends of the earth. Witness begins where you already are — your home, your street, your workplace — before it ever reaches far away. The Spirit doesn't wait until we feel qualified. He works through ordinary people who are simply willing to be used.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill us with the same power that turned frightened disciples into bold witnesses. Use us right where we are today. Amen.
